每年出國留學的學生越來越多，2009-10年期間就有405,810名國際學生前往英國就讀，比前年的人數增加了10%；而其中有13%的學生就讀大學課程，68%的學生就讀研究所純授課課程，49%學生就讀研究課程。

在全世界前往英國就讀的國際學生中，最大宗是中國56,990名學生，其次是印度38,500名學生。而在就讀的科目中，最高比例的學生是就讀商管課程，約占33%，其次是工程，科技課程，約占32%，資工則占24%。

在各大學收取最多國際學生的排名則可以列為:

1.        London School of Economics and Political Science    65%

2.         Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine   40%

3.         University of College London     36%

4.       University of Bedfordshire        29%

5.       The University of Cambridge     28%
6.         The University of Warwick        28%
7.         London Metropolitan University   26%

9.         The University of Edinburgh      25%
10.     The University of Oxford         25%
11.     Middlesex University            24%
